Travelling from either North or South, Sunderland is serviced by two major routes – (A1 & A19).

From the A1 (M), Northbound or Southbound, exit at junction 62 and take the A690 (signposted Sunderland). Join the A19 Northbound and the Stadium of Light is clearly signposted.

Car Parking

There are over 1,100 free car parking spaces on the stadium site. Most are located directly in front of the main West Stand, enabling safe, convenient access.

Metro

Sunderland is serviced by the Tyne and Wear Metro (light railway) system, connecting the city to Newcastle, East Coast mainline & Newcastle International Airport. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes with the Stadium of Light and St Peter’s (the closer of the two) just a few minutes walk.

Buses

There are regular bus services directly to and from the Stadium of Light.
